Mouse Wreckers ReviewMouse Wreckers Review

Mouse Wreckers is a 1949 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very original film.

The mice named Hubie and Bertie try to make Claude the cat crazy so that he can leave them alone in the house all for themselves. This is the first appearance of this yellow cat, and I loved him to pieces, and I empathized with him strongly. Yes, the only problem in this film is that the mice are too horrible to this poor cat, and I personally felt this movie was too aggressive toward him.

But the mice are so damn clever, and in particular that plan to make him view the world upside down by painting the ceiling as the floor and vice versa was ingenious. That entire sequence is absolutely brilliant, and a further proof of how authentic and even artistic the Looney Tunes series can be when they really try their best. The animation’s great and the scenarios are superb.

Mouse Wreckers is overly aggressive, but incredibly original in its ceiling sequence, and superbly crafted in terms of characterization.

My Rating – 4.1
