He Was Her Man Review

He Was Her Man is a 1937 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a weak short.

It is a very weak Merry Melody that started off the year of 1937 in a bad manner. Friz Freleng disappointed a lot with this short which is subpar for his usually strong entries. It is basically a gangster flick that is very dated by now and I have seen these gangster flicks quite a lot in previous Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies and done much better.

There are some good scenes here such as the ending for instance, but mostly the film is mediocre and even the animation and the score aren’t that great here. They are fine, but nothing too remarkable. I hope the series gets better in 1937 after this slow start.

He Was Her Man is a typical, dull gangster flick that doesn’t differentiate itself from others of the same type.
