Count Me Out Review

Count Me Out is a 1938 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a very weak short.

Egghead sets out to become a boxer. That is all there is to be said about this film’s story and naturally I did not like it all too much as I am not a fan of boxing and these kinds of cartoons bore me to death. Count Me Out is no exception – it is overlong, dull and never interesting.

Now I like Egghead quite a bit actually and he is very likable here, but he deserves better movies than this one. The gags here are so weak and uninspired that none of them are funny at all and the entire story, score and approach are so mediocre leading to probably this year’s weakest Merry Melody.

Egghead deserves much better than Count Me Out which is another one of those very boring and uninspired boxing shorts.
