Barbecue Brawl ReviewBarbecue Brawl  Review

Barbecue Brawl is a 1956 animated short that is the 104th Tom and Jerry cartoon. It is such a weak entry that is one of the worst for the series.

Barbecue Brawl is a harmless Tom and Jerry entry, the one that you are most likely to forget quickly after you’ve seen it. Yes, it has some good parts in it and the film is well made, but I’ve seen this movie countless times before and it is so clichéd and sometimes even directly taken from some of the previous entries.

The red ant army in particular had a very similar scene in a previous picnic movie. And yes, the entire picnic setting here and the use of Spike and Tyke is so familiar to the point of being a rip-off. Also, I never really found Tom and Jerry interesting here nor needed as they should have been cut off from this particular short. It isn’t a bad film as there is no purely bad short in this series, but it is still so slight and definitely one of the worst.

Barbecue Brawl is so familiar to the point of being a rip-off leading to one of the weakest parts of the series.
