A View to a Kill Movie Review

A View to a Kill is a 1985 spy film which is the fourteenth entry in the James Bond series. It is one of the weaker entries for sure.

Being the seventh and last entry to feature Roger Moore as Bond, it is weak, but he was fine in my opinion. Not great and he was certainly too old to play this role at this time, but he still did a solid job in the role and wasn’t bad or anything.

Others are much worse in my opinion. Wow, does this movie feature some bad performances. Grace Jones is silly, but actually gives us a quite interesting character and her androgynous look is different and unique, especially for this franchise. But Christopher Walken’s villain is ridiculous and I have to say that Tanya Roberts utterly destroyed this movie with horrible, truly bad acting which was painful to listen to.

A View to a Kill also features a rather silly plotline and although the movie definitely can be fun and amusing in some scenes and it isn’t horrible as some of the scenery and action is pretty good, it is mostly a mediocre affair because the story is just your typical silly spy stuff that we’d seen countless times before in this series.

The dialogue is also not the greatest and the humor should have been better. The movie is again too cheesy and campy and I really wonder why 80s bond flicks were so campy to the point of being ludicrous.

Overall, it isn’t a bad film and it can entertain you, but it is also way too long at a bit over two hours with the plot that did not need that much runtime and surely some parts are slow and dull. But it isn’t the worst Bond entry as there have been weaker ones in the past.

Grace Jones is interesting in A View to a Kill, but Tanya Roberts is just horrible and painful to listen to. The plot is silly and campy per usual for this series in the eighties and it is just such a mediocre affair that isn’t the worst Bond entry, but it is one of the weaker ones.

My Rating – 2.5
