Too Late Review

Too Late Review

Too Late is a 2020 Canadian animated short film directed by Roy Stein. It’s a very strong suspense movie.

An overworked man struggles to keep his sanity as the work in his office continues to mount. This film explores not as much talked about, but still hugely important issue that is the exhaustion from work and the dangers of overworking, both on the mental and the physical state of the worker. It’s a universal issue that all of the world continues to face, but here it’s dealt with in a rather unique way.

The film basically acts as a thriller. The man starts seeing haunting visions of himself and the drink in his glass becomes alive etc. Although the film is too short and I wanted to have seen more of the thriller scenes, the ones that we got are uniformly strong and actually very ominous. The entire film has this atmosphere of danger and dread lurking beneath its gorgeous animation that is polished and very modern. The score is also super effective at conveying that suspense.

In conclusion, Too Late is an effective thriller flick about the dangers of overworking that is fueled with gorgeous animation and a strong score.

My Rating – 4
