The Simpsons Season 15 Review

The fifteenth season of The Simpsons is another very weak season as the show really began to stumble at this point in time.

Well, I guess it’s impossible to control all the media.

The Simpsons Season 15 Review

Treehouse of Horror XIV is only memorable in the first Grim Reaper segment. That one is surprisingly dark and menacing. The others are more forgettable unfortunately. My Mother the Carjacker sees Homer’s mom return, but in a repetitive role, which was disappointing to witness.

The President Wore Pearls is a very dull Evita parody with not enough memorable musical moments. The Regina Monologues is a very forgettable, far from insightful London travelogue while The Fat and the Furriest is such a ridiculous, dumb episode that is way too cartoony and childish for this show.

Today I Am a Clown is better than most Krusty outings, but it’s still mostly to be enjoyed by his fans or Jewish people. Tis the Fifteenth Season is a fine holiday episode that is charming and enjoyable, but Marge vs. Singles, Seniors, Childless Couples and Teens and Gays is overly political and never funny in any scene.

I, (Annoyed Grunt)-bot is familiar, but serviceable in both of its cat and robot subplots. Diatribe of a Mad Housewife is another very mediocre Marge episode that is far from original or amusing. Margical History Tour is yet another very uninspired historical excursion that is devoid of laughs. Milhouse Doesn’t Live Here Anymore is a solid boys’ friendship episode while Smart & Smarter is definitely familiar as we’ve seen Lisa’s confidence being shaken episodes before, but it’s different enough with the inclusion of Maggie that it was stellar nonetheless.

The Ziff Who Came to Dinner is easily the weakest among Artie episodes as he is not that well utilized here at all. Co-Dependents’ Day is a strange episode with Homer being too horrible of a person, but seeing Marge getting loose and having fun for once was quite entertaining.

The Wandering Juvie is a very uninspired juvenile hall episode, My Big Fat Geek Wedding disappointingly ended off Skinner and Edna’s relationship, Catch ‘Em If You Can is another overly strange episode in the parents’ behavior, but it was still a familial episode that was mostly quite cute. Simple Simpson is too goofy and childish, but The Way We Weren’t is yet another romantic historical episode that is very wonderful with Homer and Marge being both excellent here. Bart-Mangled Banner is only passable, but the finale Fraudcast News makes very strong use of the always delightful Mr. Burns.

Overall, a couple of episodes in this season are very good, but none are great and most are only passable or solid without ever being particularly original or hilarious.

Worst Episodes: The Fat and the Furriest and Simple Simpson.

Best Episodes: Smart & Smarter and Fraudcast News.

My Rating – 3.3
