Rabbit’s Feat Review

Rabbit’s Feat Review

Rabbit’s Feat is a 1960 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very good, albeit strange short.

Wile E. Coyote decides to cook and eat Bugs, but Bugs is on to his plan and tries to escape by acting crazy. The cooking scene was familiar, but superbly executed and quite amusing. The dynamic between the two was surprisingly strong and Bugs is clearly the highlight of this picture. The animation is also fluid and some lines of dialogue are well written and quite memorable.

My issue here lies in the decision to give Wile E. a voice. I have never liked this. Characters who are always silent should stay that way. Yes, it would be difficult to execute him in the silent mode with the talkative Bugs, but the pairing itself did not need to exist. The two function well for the most part, but still it was odd seeing them together.

Rabbit’s Feat is a strange cartoon with an odd pairing, but at least the execution is so good that it mostly transcends its problematic conceit.

My Rating – 4
