Pilgrim Porky ReviewPilgrim Porky Review

Pilgrim Porky is a 1940 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very weak entry.

This is such an inferior short to the previous travelogue ‘Africa Squeaks’ which was more amusing for sure. This one doesn’t have a lot going for it apart from very strong animation, especially of the waves and lightning. The film definitely looks fine. But the story itself is weak and the film lacks in gags entirely. Even the ending is not funny.

Pilgrim Porky is named after Porky and he isn’t even in the film all that much. The black characters are stereotypes and I wish Porky was present more. They still are continuing to struggle with his character. Looney Tunes have definitely been in a  rut during 1939/1940 period and I hope that changes pretty soon as I am tired of this low quality of work.

Pilgrim Porky is another weak entry in the series in a lackluster streak. The animation is good, but the characters and story are subpar.

My Rating – 3.2
