Lumber Jerks Review

Lumber Jerks is a 1955 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a weak short.

As the Gophers prepare for winter their tree is moved to a saw mill. When their home is made into furniture, they follow the delivery truck and take back everything that was made from their tree. The premise is slight and the execution even more so. The details are somewhat interesting and the two gophers are as cute as always with some moments here being very endearing.

Still, I’ve had enough with the Goofy Gophers. I find their cartoons only mildly diverting and just for children without the necessary edge that the Looney Tunes series is famous for. For the mid fifties, this just doesn’t cut it anymore. The animation is charming and the voice acting is good, but the plot is weak.

Lumber Jerks is definitely cute and charming, but way too slight in story and humor.

My Rating – 3.3
