Long-Haired Hare ReviewLong-Haired Hare Review

Long-Haired Hare is a 1949 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a terrific flick.

An opera singer tries to sing his number, but Bugs harasses him. Eventually, he entirely destroys the poor singer. The film starts off slowly and less memorably, but it has a long build-up, becoming better and better in the process. It culminates with that truly terrific finale.

It was such a perfectly executed final sequence which builds and builds until erupting with great music and action. Bugs is awesome here, and that poor singer is very memorable too. The animation is absolutely spectacular, and the mixing of the animation with the music was achieved beautifully. This is one of those classical music cartoons which would become a norm later on, but here we have already witnessed its true potential.

Long-Haired Hare is slower at first, but it eventually leads to a perfect finale. The animation and the score are both amazing.
