Hyde and Hare Review

Hyde and Hare Review

Hyde and Hare is a 1955 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a weaker short.

This one was very disappointing to me, though I should have expected something inferior, having in mind that Looney Tunes had already had so many Jekyll and Hyde adaptations by this point that it’s become really tired of a trope. Most of the scenarios here were quite repetitive and I didn’t find the action on screen all that exciting nor was the humor great.

The animation, on the other hand, is very strong. The characters are also fine. Jekyll is good and memorable while Bugs is his usual fun self. His lines of dialogue here are excellent and he steals the show in an otherwise weaker flick not deserving of his greatness. The ending was even not as funny as the filmmakers obviously thought it is, but again Bugs sells every scene as being much better than it seems.

Hyde and Hare has great Bugs in it, but the overall premise and situations are tiresome by now.

My Rating – 3.5
