Hare Lift ReviewHare Lift Review

Hare Lift is a 1952 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a solid, fun flick.

Bank robber Yosemite Sam forces Bugs to try to fly the largest airplane in the world. Just as the title would suggest, this short gets a lot of mileage from the airplane and midair sequences, and it wrings a lot of humor out of those situations. In particular, the scene with Bugs pretending to be a grocer made me chuckle the most. It represents him at his wittiest.

Other scenes are also pretty good, though none managed to arrive to that level of wit. I found the short pretty good, though annoyingly not great as the pacing is off, and simply it should have been funnier and better given the great premise. But still, Bugs is as always very clever while Sam is very amusing in his failings.

Hare Lift closes out the year of 1952 in a solid manner. It’s not the greatest short, but it does have some terrific moments and a great premise.
