Fiesta Fiasco Review

Fiesta Fiasco is a 1967 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a pretty strange short.

Daffy Duck builds a rainmaking machine in order to rain out Speedy Gonzales’s fiesta, but it spits out a small black cloud that does nothing but harass Daffy himself. First off, this black cloud made for what was basically a one-gag cartoon. Again, it had its moments, but I wanted more versatility with this movie.

The ending was a twist as it saw Speedy and the gang throw a birthday party for Daffy. Apparently, this was the thirtieth anniversary of the character since his creation, so he got this lackluster movie to celebrate it. I liked that ending for sure, but again Speedy throwing a party for him was odd. The entire black cloud element definitely felt too reminiscent to the ‘Pink Panther’ movies as clearly during this era Looney Tunes lost their manic and original quality and tone.

Fiesta Fiasco has a solid twist ending, but it’s an odd movie in concept and execution with the black cloud gag being repetitive.

My Rating – 3.2
