Corn Plastered ReviewCorn Plastered Review

Corn Plastered is a 1951 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a weaker short.

A beany-capped, wise-cracking crow invades a corn field owned by an elderly farmer. The farmer unsuccessfully attempts to kill the crow by using a gun, an axe, and a cannon. The premise itself is fine, but the overall storytelling and execution are far from memorable or original.

I really like that farmer. He is quite amusing in his talking and anger, but the crow itself had a very odd high voice, and was overall unappealing. The animation is also nothing to write home about, albeit the setting itself is solidly utilized. It’s a fine cartoon, but in comparison to most others from this year, it is inferior.

Corn Plastered has a good farmer character and a fine premise, but the action, humor and the crow character are all weaker in quality.

My Rating – 3.4
