3. Napoleon

Napoleon is an iconic 1927 silent epic film that is ridiculously long at a staggering five-hour runtime. This led to many slower and less interesting sections. Still, this epic remains impressive to this date due to so many innovative cinematic techniques utilized throughout. It is incredible in its cinematography and masterful editing while also being very memorable in a couple of superbly executed sequences with the snowball one at the beginning and the ghosts of parliament scene being the highlights.

2. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The third Guardians movie proved out to be the greatest Marvel movie in years and one of their best overall so far. It has its flaws with the third act containing an annoying fake death scene, but for the most part this was a highly entertaining superhero comedy that was also surprisingly dark in certain stretches. Rocket’s backstory was so touching and the final sequence saying goodbye to our team was also very emotional.

1. Carnival of Souls

The very definition of an underrated gem, Carnival of Souls isn’t just a terrific horror movie, but it’s one of the best that that genre had to offer in the sixties. A wonderful mixture of Hitchockian suspense and Twilight Zone-like storytelling, this is a very creepy, even disturbing movie that was made on the cheap, but it doesn’t show as the cinematography, score and sound are so fantastic that they elevate the plot and atmosphere at every turn. Its creepy twist ending was particularly memorable.

3. Margot at the Wedding

Margot at the Wedding is the second worst Noah Baumbach movie after ‘White Noise’. It has highly unlikable, underdeveloped characters and a plot that meanders and doesn’t really go anywhere. Some of the dialogue is good, but mostly this was a total waste of time.

2. Shazam! Fury of the Gods

I loved the first ‘Shazam!’ movie, but this sequel lost everything that was unique about the original. It introduced more superheroes and villains to the mix and more action spectacle, thus losing the heart and simple nature of its predecessor. The creatures are great here and some scenes are memorable, but overall it was a messy, pointless sequel.

1. Assassin’s Creed

This movie was just as bad as everybody said it is. The overstuffed, overplotted and joyless nature to the film spelled its doom. It was too complicated, overly reliant on speeches and too underdeveloped in its characters for audiences to care about it whatsoever. It was a giant missed opportunity. These awesome games deserve much better treatment.
