Baby Buggy Bunny Review

Baby Buggy Bunny Review

Baby Buggy Bunny is a 1954 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is an odd short.

A bank robber that looks like a baby (somehow) ends up at Bugs Bunny’s place and then tries to retain his money that fell into the rabbit’s burrow. The main issue I’ve had with this short is that Bugs was too naïve at first. It took him a sweet time to realize what is going on, and that simply rang false for this usually very smart character.

Other than that issue, the movie works well enough, especially in the comedy department. Some moments with the gangster baby are quite amusing and Bugs was very funny in the end scenes. The prison scene is excellent. I also liked hearing the descriptions of the robber on the news as they were detailed and quite fun. The animation is nothing particularly inspired, though.

Baby Buggy Bunny ended the year 1954 on a solid, though decidedly odd note. The premise is amusing enough that it worked out good for the most part.

My Rating – 3.8
