An Egg Scramble (1950)
An Egg Scramble Review
An Egg Scramble is a 1950 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is such a fun flick.
Porky Pig has a chicken farm, and every hen lays an egg for him regularly except for Miss Prissy who is too shy to do it. Eventually, she produces an egg, but runs away with it and joins a gangster. In the finale, a chick comes out of the egg. I disliked that finale quite a bit, it was not all that funny nor was it worthy to be the final moment in this otherwise very good short.
The gangster subplot is also not the greatest, but it is mildly amusing. I loved the animation here, and the premise is terrific and quite original. Miss Prissy is such a great new character as she’s instantly memorable and amusing. I loved her interactions with Porky who steals the show here with his very witty dialogue delivery. He’s amazing throughout and at his best here.
An Egg Scramble is uneven at times, but it has a terrific premise and two great turns from Prissy and Porky.
