The Olympic Champ (1942)

The Olympic Champ Review
The Olympic Champ is a 1942 animated short film from the Goofy series. It is a pretty solid cartoon.
The narrator tells the story of the Olympic Games and uses Goofy to explain the different sports competitions that take place at the event. This is another sports-oriented Goofy short and it’s not among the best, but it’s far from the weakest either. The title cards of the various sports felt like filler and the movie is hardly funny at anything that it does, but it was so well animated and made overall.
The highlight is the narration. The narrator clearly wants poor Goofy to fail and that made his words so funny. The energy to this movie and especially narrator’s commentary was quite kinetic, making for a lively and fun flick. The situations could have been more memorable, but the movie was still so stylishly and competently made.
