Phantom of the Horse Opera Review

Phantom of the Horse Opera is a 1961 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a fine flick.

In the ghost town of Spooksville, Arizona, Woody Woodpecker tangles with an outlaw who disguises himself as a ghost to scare Woody away. This cartoon had nothing to do with The Phantom of the Opera. It’s just titled that way. Instead, it is another western and I am getting sick and tired of these personally.

With that being said, this one worked more often than not due to a solidly utilized premise and a couple of solid moments throughout. I liked the characters quite a bit and the scenarios are amusing overall. I just wished that Woody was present more as he was quite sidelined here.

Phantom of the Horse Opera sidelines Woody, which was unfortunate. But the movie is otherwise solidly diverting.

My Rating – 3.5
