Blood of Zeus Season 3 (2025)

Blood of Zeus Season 3 Review
The third season of Blood of Zeus premiered on Netflix in 2025. It’s a rather disappointing, but still pretty good season of animated fantasy television.
This show saw diminishing returns for me personally. The original season was genuinely exciting, intriguing and I loved its family-centric storytelling with a lot of emotions, twists and soap opera elements that worked. The second season was overly action-oriented and messy while this third one is similar to its predecessor, though it was overall a bit more engaging.

My main issue here is that it all ended in an anticlimactic manner. The finale was still excellent and quite epic, but how they arrived to that point felt a bit rushed and at times even abrupt. It was obvious that they’d initially planned for a five-season show. The entire season moved way too frenetically with very little room left for strong character development and world building.
I liked what they did to Heron and Seraphim. Their arcs concluded in a suitably heroic and admirable manner. Their dynamic was genuinely terrific throughout. Their action scenes were frequently the best of the bunch. The others did not get much to do, though Hera’s story was quite well realized and Hades was as memorable as always.
Let’s talk about the villains. Typhon is as cool and powerful as you’d expect him to be. Cronus is the big baddie here. I did not love what they did to him. He was at first so menacing and mighty. That episode where he killed off a couple of gods for good was by far the best one as it made us see just how dangerous this titan truly is. But eventually they did manage to beat him and in a very frustrating way. I wished to have seen more of him in terms of the fights. Alfred Molina is a great actor of course, but his voice did not suit this character at all.

Blood of Zeus looked amazing in its third season. The score is excellent too. I loved the visuals of the powers and how well the action was executed, though it wasn’t as spectacular as I wanted it to have been. The voice acting is excellent too. The dialogue is mostly very strong, but the script was only okay and this season sidelined characterization and storytelling in favor of action set pieces.
Overall, Blood of Zeus ended in a solid, though somewhat disappointing manner. This show saw diminishing returns to me with each season as the original clearly remains the best one. This final season is too frenetic, rushed and anticlimactic to be truly fantastic. With that being said, most of the characters got their proper due, the animation is excellent and the action is mostly satisfying. The finale was also quite good.
Worst Episodes: The Head of the Maenads and The Tower of the Winds.
Best Episodes: Hades’ Choice and A Champion’s Challenge.
