Wise Quackers (1949)
Wise Quackers Review
Wise Quackers is a 1949 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very strong flick.
Daffy Duck arranges with Elmer Fudd to be his slave so the guy doesn’t eat him. It’s a silly premise that really works though because it’s loony in the best way possible. I did find the second act a bit lacking in comparison to the other two strong acts and that part needed more memorable scenarios, but overall it’s a terrific short with a well executed premise and fun humor.
That last part where the duck imitates Abraham Lincoln was so amusing and of course some references were great here. I particularly enjoyed the dinner sequence which was so funny how manipulative Daffy was. That was classic Looney Tunes fun and I chuckled every time the duck said the word slave with his lisp.
Wise Quackers started off the year of 1949 for the studio on a very strong note with a terrific premise and some great humorous sequences.
