Young and Healthy is a 1933 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is an interesting, but flawed movie.
Now in dealing with older people and the aristocrats, this film is much different than other Merry Melodies and quite unique. I liked its many parts, especially the entire third act, which was amusing and filled with nice gags. But the entire film is very flawed as it didn’t introduce us to its characters particularly well.
It just kind of starts with no proper first act whatsoever. I liked all of its characters and they were great and quite memorable actually. But I would have liked that the film was a bit slower as it was just too rushed and frenetic in pacing. But because of its interesting plot and setting, it is an authentic entry in the Merry Melodies series and ultimately successful.
Young and Healthy is a flawed, but interesting experiment with a couple of nice gags in it.
