Touché, Pussy Cat! ReviewTouché, Pussy Cat! Review

Touché, Pussy Cat! is a 1954 animated short that is the 89th Tom and Jerry cartoon. It is a typical entry for this miniseries.

It is basically a sequel to ‘The Two Mouseketeers‘ and is of very similar quality. It is also notable for being the last Tom and Jerry cartoon to be nominated for an Academy Award. But it is so typical for the Academy to nominate this as they are obviously fans of this miniseries and I am honestly not. It is too different than usual, but also never as funny or as inspired as it should be.

But it has its moments with a couple of action scenes being pretty good and the short starts and ends really well. Tuffy is somewhat annoying, but mostly well utilized. And although it takes its time to get there, when it does, it gets pretty entertaining with some solid chases and okay humor. It is also well animated and scored and Tuffy’s lines were frequently amusing.

Overall, Touché, Pussy Cat! is uninspired and typical, but also amusing and mostly well made.

My Rating – 3.9
