The Truce Hurts The Truce Hurts Review

The Truce Hurts is a 1948 animated short which is the 35th of Tom and Jerry shorts. It is a very good entry and one of their more pleasant.

This short surprised me so much with its quality. The premise is so authentic because it incorporates the friendship between all three of them, even including Spike, and that is a new and exciting path for them to take. And they did wonders with this premise as all three are really funny with Jerry surprisingly being the most enjoyable. I loved how it begins and ends the same and that was a nice touch.

The score is stupendous in this one. It is as usual energetic and catchy, but also wonderfully makes use of the musical cues from ‘The Wizard of Oz’. That was so fun for me and a great inclusion. It does feel at times repetitive and not as strong in its action, but it is mostly really well executed. And although it isn’t hilarious, the film is still quite funny from time to time and is incredibly entertaining and briskly paced.

The Truce Hurts is so brisk and entertaining with good action, superb premise well realized and some great, memorable moments.

My Rating – 4.3
