Little Runaway ReviewLittle Runaway Review

Little Runaway is a 1952 animated short that is the 68th Tom and Jerry cartoon. It is a very familiar, but still quite endearing entry.

Jerry befriends a seal who had escaped from the circus, but Tom wants to return it as there is a prize involved. The problem with this short is most certainly its plot and the friendship between Jerry and the seal in particular. There have already been many instances where the mouse makes friends with another creature and that is definitely getting old.

However, that still doesn’t change the fact that this is a very endearing and fun flick. The action is solid and the use of Tom in particular is excellent with the ending being so good. I also adored that seal as it was so adorable. This is a Tom and Jerry entry that I remember liking it a lot as a kid and although I do not share that sentiment now, I still really enjoyed it and I found it to be charming.

Little Runaway is familiar in its plot, but endearing and fun in its execution with such a great use of that endearing seal.
