Smitten Kitten ReviewSmitten Kitten Review

Smitten Kitten is a 1952 animated short that is the 66th Tom and Jerry cartoon. It is a typically pointless and annoying filler episode.

Tom is again infatuated by a female cat and Jerry is joined by the green devil who reminds him of Tom’s previous romances. This is basically a filler episode in the vein of ‘Jerry’s Diary‘ and it is of similar quality in that it uses some very questionable episodes in its recollections such as ‘ Texas Tom‘, but also has a classic ‘Solid Serenade‘ to boot. But this film is still nothing new and is basically repeated stuff.

I liked the devil quite a bit and the ending was nice, but those female cats (and mice in the end) are so annoying and Smitten Kitten is most certainly a dated film in terms of its sexism. I liked the devil and his speeches were a lot of fun, but every other character here is either boring or frustrating with Tom basically being in love for the most part which was so boring to witness. It is in the end one of the worst entries in the series for all of the aforementioned reasons.

Smitten Kitten is a typical filler episode with a boring rehashed storyline and some annoying use of its characters.
