Jerry and the LionJerry and the Lion Review

Jerry and the Lion is a 1950 animated short that is the 50th Tom and Jerry cartoon. It is such an endearing and charming entry.

Jerry befriends an escaped circus lion and tries to help him go back to Africa. This is one of my childhood favorites and one of those Tom and Jerry cartoons that I remember the most and although it somewhat disappointed me as an adult due to the evident lack of humor, I still liked as it is so charming and wonderfully effervescent.

The plot is quite different than usual and the emphasis on Jerry instead of Tom is also refreshing. I really liked the lion and he is such a likable and memorable new character. The action is pretty good and the relationship between the two is so sweet with a heartwarming ending. It is such a charming little flick that is easily one of the finest Tom and Jerry entries of the time.

Jerry and the Lion does lack humor, but the plot is so interesting and the emphasis on Jerry is refreshing. The relationship between him and the lion is sweet and it is such an endearing flick.

My Rating – 4.2
