The Lone Stranger and Porky Review
The Lone Stranger and Porky is a 1939 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very weak short.
Having in mind that the Lone Ranger was extremely popular at the time of this cartoon, it is obvious then that they decided to make use of it. However, it is weird then that they did not do anything truly great or interesting with him. Nothing here is remotely interesting or funny.
I guess it has solid animation and particularly attention to detail in setting and period, but the characters are very underutilized and dull from the titular one to Porky himself who is quite bland here. The action and the humor are the worst parts of this film as both are very weak and both should have been excellent.
In the end, The Lone Stranger and Porky is unfortunately a very weak, bland opening of the year of 1939.
