Sniffles and the Bookworm ReviewSniffles and the Bookworm Review

Sniffles and the Bookworm is a 1939 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is an odd one.

This is basically one of those animated shorts that Disney has done countless times before and thus this is pretty rehashed in its idea of book characters coming to life. But the main problem with this film is that it is overlong and quite slow while also being continually odd. The scenes are not connected at all and they appear out of nowhere and make no sense. Both the story and the characters here are quite odd.

But I did like its animation quite a bit as it is very polished and actually pretty great. I particularly liked the character design which is pretty inspired. The score is also very strong with that song at the middle of the film being very catchy and sweet. It came out of nowhere, but it was at least memorable.

Sniffles and the Bookworm has a good score and very strong animation, but odd, pointless story, characters and tone to it.

My Rating – 3.3
