Porky the Wrestler Review

Porky the Wrestler is a 1937 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a weak short.

This is another weak short and this time a Looney Tunes cartoon opens 1937 in a weak manner. So basically here we have Porky in a boxing ring wrestling. And not only is that setting overplayed and mostly boring, but the execution itself is also pretty weak. The third act had some moments and the film is well scored and with solid animation, but it is never funny or particularly entertaining.

I also found its first half very dated with all those car situations and dialogue. This is not a cartoon that can be understood by today’s audiences fully which is evident from the first scene of the film. Porky has been in a slum lately and I hope he gets better shorts soon.

Porky the Wrestler is not bad, but it isn’t exciting or funny as its plot is dated and the humor is nonexistent.
