Bulldozing the Bull ReviewBulldozing the Bull Review

Bulldozing the Bull is a 1938 animated short from Popeye the Sailor series. It is a very charming, traditional entry.

This is such an old-fashioned and lovable cartoon that I enjoyed it a lot. What I didn’t like is its lack of humor as not a lot of it is particularly funny. And the fights could have been a bit better. But everything else is quite good and I really liked the bull character as well as Popeye here who is expectedly hilarious and so quotable.

Bulldozing the Bull benefits from a very unique approach to it with Popeye not wanting to fight the bull and the spinach use. That progressive message about animal rights is great and I just loved how he got the spinach from the crowd. Olive Oyl is also quite interesting here as she is more sexy than usual. Overall, nothing here screams great, but everything is good and satisfying.

Bulldozing the Bull isn’t great, but it is quite authentic while also being charming, fun and filled with some great lines.
