The Twisker Pitcher ReviewThe Twisker Pitcher Review

The Twisker Pitcher is a 1937 animated short from Popeye the Sailor series. It is one of the funniest and most inventive entries in a while.

Popeye and Bluto play baseball in this one and it is absolutely great to watch, so entertaining. The Twisker Pitcher is another classic episode after fantastic ‘Hospitaliky’ and both have one thing in common – an uncommon use of spinach. Here, Bluto fools Popeye into thinking that he has spinach in his can and eventually Popeye is forced to plant the spinach himself and eat it out of the ground. That scene was so refreshing and instantly recognizable in the series.

I loved Olive here quite a bit and I loved how she beat up that fat woman, a fan of Bluto. Both Olive and Popeye are super nasty in this one and although some may find them to be too aggressive, I liked that as it was so funny to watch. The film lacks energy in its execution, but it has such a great humor in it as it’s hilarious many times. It also has an excellent, truly admirable use of its characters.

The Twisker Pitcher is not only funny, but also extremely memorable and featuring a great use of all of its characters.

 My Rating – 4.4
