Pioneer Days Review

Pioneer Days is a 1930 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is a regular Mickey Mouse entry.

By regular I mean that the plot is standard and there is nothing truly special or truly bad in it leading to a fine, solid entry that should prove to be forgettable in retrospect. It is about Mickey fighting some Indians in the Old West and is thus, surprisingly enough, one of a only few historical Mickey Mouse shorts.

The animation is okay and the score is pretty good. I thought the imagery and the action were the highlights and the film is overall pretty well made, but overlong, not particularly exciting and of course never really funny as its gags are lacking in quality. I am also never thrilled to watch these racist Indian cartoons.

Pioneer Days is well made and executed, but not memorable or funny enough.
