I Eats My SpinachI Eats My Spinach Review

I Eats My Spinach is an animated short film in the Popeye the Sailor series released in 1933. It has its superb moments, but is ultimately a bit disappointing.

The romantic couple this time goes to rodeo, but Bluto is there and the fight naturally ensues. This short was great in its first half and so disappointing in its second half. The bulls weren’t that well utilized later on, apart from a couple of fine moments earlier. The action is also pretty weak and very forgettable.

But the characters of Popeye and Olive are once again great and their moments in the beginning are funny. I Eats My Spinach has great humor which is its biggest strength. I loved the sequence in which the people get into the rodeo and they all cheat and buy just one ticket. That was simply hilarious and so well done. The whole first half is superb which is why the ending was disappointing.

I Eats My Spinach has a weaker second half and forgettable action, but the two characters get their moments from early on and the humor is superb with some hilarious scenes.

 My Rating – 3.9
