How Do I Know It's Sunday ReviewHow Do I Know It’s Sunday Review

How Do I Know It’s Sunday is a 1934 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a very typical flick.

This is one of those shorts in which house objects become alive, this time around kitchen objects are the protagonists. And of course they immediately burst to song. There is no plot to be had here whatsoever. Even the chase and fight at the end is typical and it came out of nowhere and way too late in the picture’s run.

The character designs are actually rather solid and the overall animation is pretty good. The score is fine and I really liked its titular musical number repeated throughout the film. There are some action scenes here that are inventive and interesting. But for the most part, this film is as basic as they come. Merry Melodies during this time really struggled with storytelling in my opinion.

How Do I Know It’s Sunday is a basic musical with the fight that came too late in the run and with a typical setting.

My Rating – 3.3
