Customers Wanted ReviewCustomers Wanted Review

Customers Wanted is a 1939 animated short from Popeye the Sailor series. It is a very lacking, so-so entry.

Yes, Customers Wanted is one of the worse Popeye shorts mostly because it is a filler above anything else. Yes, that film viewing presentation is pretty authentic in and of itself, but it still remains a filler as it basically consists of repeated action from previous  shorts and not that great shorts they chose unfortunately.

The highlight here is of course Wimpy. The ending is so spectacular and so in character as you would expect from Wimpy to use the newly established situation for his own profit. That was hilarious and unforgettable. But other than him, Popeye is seriously forgettable and Bluto is so problematic. Yes, I am talking about the voice acting. Bluto wasn’t present in more than a couple of recent entries because Gus Wickie was no longer playing the role and here he is back and Pinto Colvig voices him and it’s just not the same. Very odd and it will undoubtedly get me a lot of time to get used to it.

Overall, Customers Wanted benefits from an awesome ending with Wimpy, but the filler formula is annoying and Bluto’s new voice is odd.
