Cannibal Capers Review

Cannibal Capers Review

Cannibal Capers is a 1930 Disney animated short film. It is a pretty good early Silly Symphony.

I have to admit that I really liked this entry even though it is a somewhat typical early 30s Silly Symphony. It has again way too much dancing in it and the character designs are expectedly unappealing and not cute at all, but the film is otherwise very entertaining and well scored and with a couple of good gags.

Having a cartoon revolve around cannibals was a brave choice and the third act with the lion is certainly the highlight. It features memorable action, a couple of very good gags and a great cartoon feel to it. I loved the ending as it was a memorable and fun way to conclude the short. So the first act is lacking and too slow but others are very good leading to what is arguably one of the best Silly Symphonies of its period.

Cannibal Capers is weakly animated, but a lot of fun with some good scenes and gags.

My Rating – 3.6
