Buddy the Gob Review
Buddy the Gob is a 1934 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is one of the weakest Buddy entries so far.
This short definitely has its strengths. For example, the entire premise with the dragon and the human sacrifice brought to him is a new thing for the series and it was interesting to witness. I also liked some of the action near the end quite a bit. But that is basically it as the execution of this potentially great story was quite poor and so disappointing.
Buddy is forgettable here and the girl is just the same. The entire film moved at such a needlessly sluggish pace, the animation isn’t as great as you would expect from the studio and both the action and especially the humor are lacking with no good gags to be found here whatsoever.
Buddy the Gob has an interesting plot, but a very weak execution of it leading to such a weak fashion for the series to open the year of 1934.
